The things you share with AbideWell are deeply personal. We treat them with the care they deserve. Your spiritual reflections are not used for advertising, analytics, or training AI models.
What We Collect
Information You Provide
- Your name — shared during onboarding so the companion can address you personally
- Conversation content — your reflections, questions, and responses in conversation with the companion
- Notification preferences — your preferred morning and evening prompt times
Information Generated by the App
- Actor ID — a random identifier generated on your device to associate your conversations. This is not linked to your real identity, email, or Apple ID.
- Memories — the companion extracts key details from conversations (relationships, life circumstances, struggles) to provide continuity. You can view and delete these at any time.
- Formation data — spiritual growth trajectories computed from your conversations, used to personalize guidance.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- Email address (unless you choose to send feedback)
- Location data
- Contacts, photos, or media
- Health or financial information
- Browsing history
- Device identifiers beyond the random actor ID
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to:
- Provide personalized spiritual companionship — the companion remembers what you've shared to be a better listener
- Generate contextual guidance — your conversation history informs the companion's responses
- Deliver notifications — morning and evening prompts at your chosen times
We do NOT use your data for advertising, profiling, selling to third parties, or training AI models.
Third-Party Services
Anthropic (Claude AI)
Your conversation text is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for classification, tone wrapping, and memory extraction. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train models. Anthropic's privacy policy.
Expo (Push Notifications)
If you enable daily prompts, your push notification token is sent through Expo's notification service. Expo's privacy policy.
Railway (Hosting)
Our API runs on Railway's infrastructure with server-level encryption. Railway's privacy policy.
Data Storage
On Your Device
All local data (actor ID, preferences, drafts) is stored in your device's secure enclave (iOS Keychain) and is encrypted at rest.
On Our Servers
Conversation history, memories, and formation data are stored in a database on our server. Data is associated with your random actor ID, not your real identity.
Data Retention and Deletion
- Delete individual memories at any time from the "What I Remember" screen
- Clear conversation history while keeping memories
- Erase everything — all conversations, memories, and formation data — permanently deleted from our servers
Children's Privacy
AbideWell is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as AbideWell evolves. Significant changes will be communicated through the app.
